Ladakh, Oct 08 (KNO): In a remarkable display of speed and efficiency, Project Vijayak of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has restored vital road connectivity to Turtuk and Sub Sector Haneef after the collapse of a 110-foot Double-Single Bailey Bridge at Skaru.
The bridge collapsed following the passage of an overloaded dumper, disrupting movement on a crucial route that serves as a lifeline for residents and security forces in the region.
Acting immediately, the 54 RCC team under Project Vijayak constructed an upstream diversion to ensure temporary connectivity, allowing traffic to resume within just a few hours.
Demonstrating technical excellence, the BRO team, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), successfully retrieved the collapsed bridge without losing any components.
A new 110-foot Bailey Bridge was launched at the same location and made operational for traffic by 7 PM the same day.
A senior BRO official said the rapid restoration reflects the organisation’s dedication to maintaining uninterrupted connectivity in Ladakh’s difficult and strategically important terrain.
Local residents also expressed gratitude to BRO for their swift action, noting that such timely efforts ensure vital links remain open even under challenging conditions.
The operation once again highlights the commitment and professionalism of Project Vijayak in serving the nation’s border regions with exceptional efficiency and resilience—(KNO)
